About Julian

Julian and EnkiI’ve always hated writing profiles, bios or the famous “tell us about yourself” at group events.  If you don’t say enough, no one gets a real sense of who you are.  If you say too much, you come off as too eager to talk about yourself.  I’m a Sagittarius.  We’re often described as the explorers of the zodiac.  That fits me pretty well.  I typically have many more interests than time to explore them all and I tend to have too many irons in the fire at any given time.  Some might even say I’m a bit ADD.

I studied Fine Art Photography and Art Education at the University of New Mexico.  I never finished my degree coming just a semester from completing it.  I still enjoy photography today but the digital revolution has certainly changed it as a medium.  Lately, I’ve taken an interest in antique process such as cyanotyping.

Julian at Hell's Kitchen Flea MarketAfter college I went to work in IT and discovered an emerging new medium, the world wide web.  I’m currently a web architect for a small Columbus, Ohio company.  I also do freelance web design and development and donate services to non-profits.

I’ve been sewing since an early age and at one point wanted to be a fashion designer.  Neal has rekindled that interest in sewing and design.  We’re working to start a business in that arena.

I’m also a pagan and a ceremonial magician.    I co-founded a national pagan gathering for gay and bi men called Between the Worlds.  I’m also the founder of the Ordo Aeternus Vovin – a magickal order for gay and bi men.  I love to camp and hike and just be outdoors.  Neal and I often walk as our main form of exercise.

I’ve also been involved in the leather community for some time.  In 2008, I held the title of Buckeye State Leather Sir and competed in the regional Leather Sir/boy contest.  I’m a member of Trident International Columbus, a leather and levi’s club.

I’ve always enjoyed writing and so I blog at several sites and write articles and content as a freelancer.  I hope to someday write a book on queer spirituality.

As I said, I have many, many interests.  I’m an artist, writer, lover, magician, free-spirit, technologist and most of all–an explorer.
